Holistic Healing for Injuries and Pain

Holistic healing approaches have become increasingly popular in recent years as people seek to treat their injuries in a more natural and sustainable way. In these approaches, I aim to treat the whole person, not just the physical injury, by taking into account the mind, body, and spirit. In this blog, I'll explore some of the holistic healing approaches that can be used to help heal injuries.

Grounding

Grounding, also known as earthing, is the practice of connecting with the Earth's energy. It involves making direct contact with the Earth's surface, such as walking barefoot on the grass, soil or sand. Research has shown that grounding can have a number of positive effects on the body, including reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and supporting the immune system. Next time you have an injury or illness, try to get out in nature to soak up the Earth’s natural frequencies to help your body recover more quickly.

Sun's Healing Properties

The sun is a natural source of vitamin D, which is essential for bone health, immune system function, and overall wellbeing. Additionally, sunlight exposure has been shown to have mood-boosting effects, improving mental health and reducing symptoms of depression. We obviously know that too much sun can bring on sunburn so cover up or get yourself a cool cabana if you want to enjoy the beach and sun for longer :)

Hydration for the joints and soft tissues

Our bodies are made up of 75-80% of water so it’s important to keep your joints, fascia and muscles hydrated. Naturopaths and Dieticians recommend a pinch of Celtic sea salt on the tongue prior to each glass of water for ultimate absorption and re-hydration as Celtic sea salt contains up to 82 essential minerals. Ultimately an adult should be drinking 2-3L / per day for adequate hydration.

Solfeggio Frequencies

Your body is an electromagnetic instrument that is constantly receiving and emitting frequencies, similar to a radio antenna. When listening to high vibrational Solfeggio frequencies, it is thought that these frequencies invoke balance and deep healing through ways in which it resonates with your electromagnetic body via sound. Each frequency is associated with different benefits where you can focus your attention on healing yourself in accordance with the purpose of the frequency. For example, 432Hz is said to be the Universal frequency and brings feelings of harmony while 174Hz is said to relieve pain and tension. For physical healing, 528Hz is recommended to support DNA repair and physical healing from injury or illness. To get the most benefit out of these frequencies, it suggested that while playing this music, you can use affirmations, feel them, meditate with these tones, set intentions and even visualise you healing or getting back to your activity while playing them.

Meditation and Visualization

Meditation and visualization can be powerful tools for healing injuries. Meditation involves focusing the mind on the present moment and can calm down the nervous system, help reduce stress and promote relaxation. Visualization involves picturing the body healing itself and can help promote positive thinking and a sense of control over the healing process. If you are interested in this method, Dr Joe Dispenza has many YouTube guided meditations and explanations around the science of how this method works.

Essential Oils

Essential oils can be used to promote healing and reduce pain and inflammation. Some oils that are commonly used for injury healing include Frankincense for anti-inflammatory & cellular renewal, Copaiba for pain management, Peppermint that relieves tension and cramping, Wintergreen as an analgesic, the combo of Wintergreen and Peppermint for pain relief and Marjoram &/or lemongrass to help heal sprains. These oils can be used topically or in a diffuser, depending on the individual's preference.

Regulate your Nervous System

The nervous system plays a crucial role in the body's ability to heal itself. Techniques such as breath work and yoga can help regulate the nervous system, reducing stress and promoting relaxation. These techniques can also help improve circulation and promote healing.

Mind-Body Connection

The mind and body are intimately connected, and it's important to address both when healing from an injury. Stress, anxiety, and negative thinking can all interfere with the body's ability to heal itself. Techniques such as mindfulness and cognitive-behavioural therapy can help promote a positive mindset and reduce stress and anxiety.

Alternative Therapies

Alternative therapies such as Reiki, acupuncture, and massage can also be used to promote healing. These therapies aim to balance the body's energy and promote relaxation. They can be used alone or in conjunction with other holistic healing approaches.

In conclusion, there are many holistic healing approaches that can be used to help heal injuries along with Physiotherapy. When I’ve been injured, I will use many of the above extra modalities to accelerate my recovery because why not? We want to get better as soon as possible and tapping into natures resources is better than a pill.
